Fantastic Similan Travel

Used this tour company for a snorkel trip to the Similan islands. We booked it out of our hotel...Orhid Beach resort in Khao Lak. Very well organized, safe, cost 2300 baht per person (sale). They use speed boats, includes lunch, snacks, snorkel gear, went to four places (on 3 of the islands). Beautiful coral. Nice, mostly openly gay staff and they were lots of fun. Nancy - he%26#39;s the best! Thanks for a great time.

Fantastic Similan Travel

So ';Fantastic Similan Travel'; is the name of the tour company?

Fantastic Similan Travel

Hi

Does this company have a website going in 10 days time . I have done a search and only getting similan scuba adventures and jack similan tours nothing for similan travel or do you have any other info as to how to book.

Also how many passengers were on your trip as i like to book with a company that deal with smaller numbers.

Cheers Julie

Hi Julie,

Khao Lak Land Discovery at www.khaolaklanddiscovery.com/bookings.php are excellent. I also noticed adverts for tours at the Rim Lay and also at Kai%26#39;s excellent new restaurant just past the Royal Bangsak Beach hotel. You shouldn%26#39;t need to book in advance.

If you get down to Bang Niang go straight down to the beach and turn right along the beach. Enjoy the walk up to the last ';establishment'; on it (fruit bar with excellent Papaya Pok Pok and great massages). Alex, the lady owner, acts for Pod%26#39;s Family Tours and they were doing the day snorkel to the Similans for 2200 baht. Guests from our resort went on it and said it was great! If you see Alex tell her Papa Alan and Mama Barbara (Mr.Richard%26#39;s friends from England)sent you. They do good tours to Khao Sok too.

Alan

Hi Alan

Thanks i will do that and also khao sok but will look into that when i get there as not sure yet whether i want to do an overnight.I would like to use Mr pods tours its good to give some custom to the locals. Only 10 days to go before i set off it will be good to see friends again . I am hoping to get taken to a restaurant that the beach lads from the Le Meridien took hubby to it was called the Bamboo River and all he knows is that it was near Bangsak and it was on a boat on a small estuary . He said the food was fantastic only locals there and he treated 9 of them to a slap up meal and drinks total bill was only 1400baht. So i will have to take note of where it is. As he said the food was to die for.

Julie

Not heard of that one but there was a new ';restaurant'; - tables overlooking the beach that had just opened down from Le Meridien just before the little estuary where Pak Weeb becomes Bang Sak and where a boat is moored. Perhaps that%26#39;s it. I%26#39;ll be interested to read about what you find. If you do go further along to Kai%26#39;s seafood just past the Royal Bangsak Beach, please pass on Alan%26#39;s (Man United) best wishes. He%26#39;s a great guy and the cooking at his new venture is every bit as good as the Rim Lay, including the prawns in coconut batter with chili sauce and snapper with spicy lemon sauce.

Alan

Just checking for contact info for Fantastic Similan travel. I think they are linked with Khao Lak Land discovery, might have used the same pier.

Fantastic Similan travel has only been in business for about one year. Their website isn%26#39;t up and running yet according to my email from Khaolak Orchid beach resort. They can be contacted at

fantasticsimilan@hotmail.com. As far as the number of people on the tour, we were on a fairly big newer speedboat. There were about 24 people on our tour but they did say that this boat can take 40. There were adequate life jackets and we were on and off the boat fairly quickly at the sites.
