Internal flights....

I am planning to go to Thailand in June, making my own holiday plan, flying from Heathrow to Bangkok. Would it be advisable to book internal flights before I go, or just turn up at the airports an hour before hand. I plan on going to Chang Mai in the north, then down to Phuket, then back to Bangkok to catch my flight back to the UK. I normally do my own holidays on the net (for Spain ect) and this saves me a small fortune not using a travel agent, so hopefully doing it myself to Thailand might save me some money. Any tips would be most welcome thanks.

Internal flights....

In June it should be OK but I suggest booking a day or two in advance to be sure of a seat, rather than just turning up in the hope of flying as domestic routes are quite busy.

AirAsia and NokAir, two local low cost carriers, have a system whereby the price gets a bit higher the closer you get to departure date.
