hey..
i leave for phuket on August 2 with my boyfriend.. we are staying 5 days 4 nights at the Indra Regent in Bangkok, then going to phuket for 8 nights 9 days staying at the Patong Merlin..
This includes breakfast and i think a complimentary dinner at both places.. Return airport transfers and Travel insurance which was $271 for the 2 of us..
total was $3442.
Was this a good deal? or did we miss out on some other good deals.
Mind you the flights we were told cost $1250 each , thats Thai airways.. syd - bangk- phuk - bang- syd.
thanks
Is this price reasonable
Seems about right, you probably paid a bit too much for travel insurance though. Me and my boyfriend are going in August too and staying 4 nights at the Siam @ Siam in Bangkok, 6 nights Horizon Karon Phuket in a pool access room and 3 nights in Siem Reap in a 3 star hotel, this cost us $4500 including all transfers, breakfast, tours in Siem Reap and flights with Thai and Bangkok Airways. I%26#39;d say that quote is pretty much spot on, but really it depends on what rooms you have at each hotel.

Hi
My Husband and I went to Phuket in February and stayed at the Ptong Merlin for 8 nights. We also flew Thai Airwaysand our trip ended up costing $3989 for the 2 of us.
I think you have got an amazing deal. We did go in peak season though, but still ...thats awesome.
We absolutely loved the Patong merlim, its a grerat place and the pools are fantastic.
Have a great time
Suzan
Hey,
Me and my family stayed at exact same hotels and same time in 2006 and paid about $100 more all up seems to me like u got a fab deal :)
Have fun!!!
Yeah if you got your travel insurance through cover more ( flight centre thieves) you paid to much, if you got it within the last 7 days ring them and cancel - go to the westpac website and for Thailand cover for 15 nights it is $158.94 for the both of you so you will save over a hundred bucks - covermore is such a rip off
i purchased my whole holiday at Harvey World travel ..
hehe i guess ill just have to make back my money with some claims:)
yeah, I only found out about Westpacs travel insuracne through Cathys website, I too had always paid far more then I needed to - they are underwritten by the same company ( Vero ). it is such a crock. Remember in future Westpac
I%26#39;m organising my travel insurance through Travel Insurance Direct (TID), it%26#39;s underwritten by Allianz and is $77 per person for 2 weeks.
ahh even better,
Indeed it is, I wasn%26#39;t paying Flight Centre%26#39;s/Cover More%26#39;s ridiculous quote for it.
Yeah I have to say in November we went to Europe for 3 months and paid the travel insurance that Flight centre offered and when we got back and booked for Aug in Phuket I booked with Westpac and quoted the same 3 months in Europe and the price difference was massive, more then double, So never again, and cover more was not that good anymore , Air Fracne lost one of our bags on a flight from Budapest to Paris and it took Air france 3 days to get it to us, they offered a toilet bag, and a card saying we could buy up to 200 euros worth of clothes and when we get back to Australia we could apply to get the money back, I contacted Covermore and was told they would give us up to $1000 after we return providing sufficent proof of Air France%26#39;s liability could be proven by us. I was so annoyed like as if I would spend by precious time in Paris ringing an insurance company if I didn%26#39;t need to. anyway my rant is over. Vote Quimby.
