Hi going in may and not sure which resort to stay at if any of the 2 mentioned. Going with hubby and kids 3 and 4. Only for 4 days so want something special. Worried about staying in laguna and getting ripped off though.
Also not sure which rooms to choose when on their websites. 2 rooms would be nice but not if too expensive. Wou;d be happy with 2 double beds. BUt is this setp up guarenteed as the info suggests 1 king or 2 doubles.
Help....confused
laguna beach resort vs allamanda resort. for family?
mkssLondon
if you stayed at the Laguna Beach hotel i don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll get ripped. However it is a 5* hotel with prices to match but not in the upper realm of 5* hotel prices.
You say you have 2 children and of course hubby makes 4. If you wish to stay at the Laguna you will have to get 2 rooms (interconnecting if possible). Laguna%26#39;s hotel policy is a maximum 3 to a room.
But don%26#39;t despair this is where the Allamanda comes in. Here they have quite a few rooms done in apartment style. they have a number of 2 bedroom apts with a large living area and small kitchen as well. 2 good pools and breakfast was fine. there is also a kids club on a pay as you go thing. my 4 year old daughter did this for a couple of days and had a ball. there were only 2 kids there but they had a great time together.
now if you%26#39;re not aware the above 2 hotels are part of a group of 5 hotels called the Laguna complex. you don%26#39;t have to sit all day in the one hotel. every hotel in this complex has reciprocal arrangements where guests can use their facilities. however be aware some facilities cost such as the gym, but you can use any of the 5 hotel%26#39;s swimming pools.also if you do pay for use of certain facilities and buy lunch/dinner at any of these hotels you can charge it back to your own hotel and pay the bill when you leave.
there is a shuttle bus and ferry that links all the hotels with no hotel being more than 5 minutes away, free of charge.
if you do decide to stay here make sure you get the discount card. it costs 1500B but is well worth it if you are staying here. you%26#39;ll find you will save on average 30-50% off food/snack/drink bills etc plus it%26#39;s valid at the shopping arcade as well.
a last point, if you wish to go to Patong it%26#39;s about a 25/30 minute ride by taxi. cost is about 400B each way.

laguna beach resort vs allamanda resort. for family?
thanks for this. The main reason for going to the laguna beach resort was for the elephants and also that its right on beach.
Allamanda seemed nice becasue of the %26#39;home away from home%26#39; type set up.
any opinions?
BTW did u go elephant trekking and to the fantesea show?
hey there mksslondon,
we stayed at laguna in a room with 2 double beds when we were travelling with our then 10 and 8 year old kids, plenty of room...rooms also had two day beds overlooking the patio area , which the kids thought was great for a bit of r%26#39;n r, fabulous pool area with slides and room service meals were good value...hope this helps ...liz
