Help, accommodation over load?????????????
To be totally honest hotel choice is an individual thing, Personally I really disliked the Merlin Beach Resort, apart from the pool access rooms, which we had, I didn%26#39;t like the place, Whereas the le Meridien beach resort , I loved as it had a private beach adn thought the rooms where nice,
I read the different reviews from different people, and my thoughts are unless the hotel staff are rude or you don%26#39;t get the room type you paid for your going to have a decent stay in any of the say, top 20 rated hotels, One thing to consider however is that there are a big number of tourists that go to phuket that don%26#39;t use or at least contribute to this forum, It is an English speaking forum after all, So certain hotels that are promoted by travel agents here in Aus or NZ, like Merlin, Holiday Inn, Patong Resort,Marriot etc are going to have the greater number of guests by way of refferal of the travel agent.
As an example, We don%26#39;t have children and want a relaxing holiday, so hotels that have excellent kids clubs may well influence our hotel choice ( note I am not anti kids at all ) where as a family of 4 reading these hotel reviews may look at a hotel with little for the kids to do as a factor in their choice.
Thinkabout what is it you want out of your holiday verses your budget and use the web to fin dout information. It is, after all, your holiday.
My 2 cents worth check out the Duangjitt Resort, recently had a great deal of work done upgrading the place, is set on 20 or so acres and is within walking area to everything you want, we have booked in to a villa for 7 nights for around $800, from there we go to the Diamond cliff resort for 8 nights and that was $1600
You wont beat the location, very central and walking distance to beach, bars , restaurants markets and shops. The hotel is set back from the street so quite but still very close to everything.
Hi Flossbrisbane, we stayed at the resort last Aug, great location 2 min. to Bangla Rd. where all the action is. Big 3* resort set off Bangla rd so quiet, 2 pools, onsite massage, sauna, we had superior room, would suggest you book Deluxe seaview room. I think they offer stay/pay deals ask your agent?
The islander restaurant is 1 min outside the resort good roasts, steaks, salads etc. Overall would recommend a stay there, if you looking for more up-market try the 4* Impiana Cabana Resort, also you could try Patong bay garden, central to all the action but much smaller on the beachfront. PM me if you have any other questions.
Cheers...Jill.
Thanks for everyones help, I love reading all this information, I am like a crazy woman, cutting and pasting every thing. We are heading off June and staying Phuket 5 days and Bangkok 5 days. If only I can deceide on the accommodation. One thing I picked up from here and had no trouble deceiding what to do ';Travel Insurance'; saved a bit. Knowledge, Knowledge.
