If you haven%26#39;t already done so,open a Nationwide flexaccount. You can use it ATMs and there will be no charges as it%26#39;s a debit card.I found I got better rates doing it this way.

Do not buy any Baht in the UK, you will get a considerably better rate in Thailand, you can change at Bangkok airport as soon as you land and get the same rate as in the towns. Currently you%26#39;ll get around 63 to the 拢拢拢 but the Baht is extremely strong at the moment against most currencies, a few months ago you would have got around 70. As for money changers in Hua Hin there are literally dozens around the town plus many banks who will generally give you a slightly higher rate. Avoid American Express or Thomas Cook cheques as not always able to change these easily, notify your bank in the UK that you are coming to Thailand or you might find after the first transaction you will not be able to use it again without contacting them.
There are literally hundreds of ATM machines but we have just got back and we had some trouble using cards at ATM machines. They let us have cash sometimes and not others! Perhaps as previous post we should have notifed our bank of our plans first?
Was not a huge problem though, we could always get cash from somewhere.
The rate right now is just over 62 baht. Don%26#39;t use money changers if a bank is handy.
also had problems with atm machine like previous post some would give you money and others wouldnt. But again not a problem ,i used flexi debit card ,great no charges
There are a very few small banks that do not take foreign ATM cards. Stick to the big banks such as Bangkok Bank, Bank of Ayuddya, Siam Commercial, Kasikorn Thai, Standard Chartered, HSBC.
Occasionally the machines run low on cash and may limited the amount, or may not payout at all.
Just back from Hua Hin, many bank exchange units around town offering 61 to 62 Bahts/拢, commission free.
In comparisson TravelEx at Newcastle Airport only selling at 54 Bahts/拢 plus 3% commission (Shocking!!!)
I received 60 Bahts/拢 from Hays Travel three weeks ago
ive just got my currency thanks now and got 60 baht to the pound from thomas cook.
