Is malaria a risk in Thailand?

Hi, I%26#39;m going to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga and their neighboring areas soon... Is there a malaria risk in any of these? Do people take precautionary drugs for these destinations? Thanks!

Malaria is minimal problem. However, right now Dengue Fever is of concern with outbreaks in Bangkok and other places (and in some other SE Asian countries too). Consult your doctor about this. The young daughter of my friend has it right now.

Almost zero risk of malaria especially if you remain in the cities.

However, better to be vigilant, there is a risk - I always squirt on the Deet...
