Free diving in Phuket

Hi we are staying in Karon beach Phuket. My husband is a keen free diver/ spear fisherman? Any suggestions where to dive off any of the beaches. Probably won%26#39;t be able to do any dive charters Unless only 1/2 a day, as it is a family holiday with 2 young kids. All advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Are you presently staying in Karon or when will you be coming?

Also is your husband planning on doing some spearfishing? If so - as far as I know - Foreigners are not allowed to spearfish in Thai waters.

Otherwise between November - Mid April the snorkelling/diving is great along the southern end of Karon beach. Max 8 meters depth. The snorkelling/diving is also good on both ends of Kata Beach. During these months some of the Dive Centers in the area do offer 1/2 day dive tours.

Thanks! We will be there early June 08. Yes, my husband loves to spearfish, so we may have to look into 1/2 day trips %26amp; get some more info on the spearfishing.
