almost perfect timing :-) we%26#39;re leaving nyc on the 28th. a few days in bangock, up to chiang mai for a while. then we%26#39;ll get to pan noi around march 7 or so.

post it anyway, it%26#39;ll help i%26#39;m sure.....

i agree lots of people say there is construction all along the beach, it is hard to work out how things are. we are planning to go in april 2008. anyone who has been there recently would love your advice...

thanks a lot

Hi,

a couple of friends of mine just staid at Star Hut. It is still the same hide away as it was before the construction. One said that it was surprisingly calm there in the evening and that several restaurants were closed. But Star Hut was full.

Baan Panburi built a little stone pool in front of their bungalows at Panviman side and the restaurant seams to have more tables, closer to the sea.

We will be there from March 7 in a beach front Bungalow and I just can´t wait to be there!

bye, Yvonne

Thats great news yvonne, please report back!!

I%26#39;m not going till August and want to stay at either Bann Panburi or Star hut, it would be great if you could give a mini review of both when you%26#39;re back!

have a great time, I wish we were going sooner x

im going for a few months on feb 28 so will try to let you know, i know that Baan Pong was doing plenty of noisy building last year...probably finished by now though..you know 300 crazy techno loving germans come to that beach first 2 weeks april for their annual mashup - http://www.thaibreak.net/

Yai for me is my fave beach to stay on..come over to noi a fair bit..but do like yai :)

ps the german techno parties are very good fun...the party moves to a different bar each night...they bring over their own top dj%26#39;s.

Also each year about the 15 april the thaibreak organisers help setup a good event in the local school on Yai - all of the restaurants on both beaches close for the evening and each have a food stall at the event, there is a big stage with shows from local kids %26amp; things, all the money goes to the school,

Hi Bunnytrecker,

I am now back from Thailand and can give you some latest news about the constructions at Thong Nai Pan Noi.

The contruction does not really effect the beachlife. You only hear the noice when you stand directly in front. But when you stay at Baan Panburi you should not stay in the first row close to the construction site. There it might disturb. But as far as I saw there have all Bungalows been free. All guest staid at Star Hut side.

Baan Panburi has its regular huts and now additional a beachfront row that formerly belonged to Star Hut. There they built a Ocean Wing with a little Pool, Pool bar and thai pillows on the beach. They light candles in the night and even have a small bbq grill to offer some snacks. It is really nice, but you have to pass Star Hut to go to the main Baan Panburi restaurant.

If you are interested in this Bungalows you should ask for bungalow no. 001 to 006. The beach is still gorgeous. Nobody knows what will happen when the Buri Rasa has its grand opening in August but right now it is still a lovely spot.

Best food on the beach you will find at the very end at Baan ta Pan Noi Resort!

Hi Yvonne!

Thankyou that sounds great, would you still reccommend to stay at Star Huts though instead of baan Puri i just can%26#39;t decide between the two!!

Whats this about the Buri rasa?? Is this something new being built or does it already exist, we are going in August!

Thankyou for your reply!

Hi,

if you can not decide between both you could ask for the Baan Panburi Ocean Wing. there they have six bungalows in first row (they belonged to Star Hut until last year). They built a little pool, a small pool bar and have a bbq for some snacks during the day. They have bamboo matts with thai pillows on the beach which looks very nice. the room # for those is no. 001 to 006. They are at the end of the beach than comes Star Hut and than the main Baan Panburi Resort.

Buri Rasa is a newly built 5 Star Resort with Pool Villas. They build it on the old Baan Panburi ground. Two years ago we stayed at Baan Panburi in a cute beach front hut. It was lovely but now they build the huge villas there. Opening is in August.

bye, Yvonne
