Hey all i haev just come back from phuket and this forum has been so helpful so thought we would give any tips to new travelers

We spent 9 days at the diamond cliff resort was amazing just nice distance away from patong easy walk . Great breakfast and dinners we never ate in patong coz of the smell and coz of the sleasy guys felt alot more safer and happy in hotel

We didnt do much shopping in patong as bangkok was much cheaper and we felt hasseled alot in patong when tryin to get same price as you would pay in bangkok they go crazy at you so we just didnt bother some people tryed to sell you clothes same price you pay in australia for real things if you walk around from shop to shop you will find odd shop owner who was happy to give you same price as bangkok and nice and not to pushy prices are ruffley mens XL tops 199 womens from 150 for two up to 199 each depending on type and quality, mens bordies depending on designs up to 299 but dont pay any more than that and same for mens jumpers

I wouldnt bother goin into phuket city much maybe for one day but alot of rubish in our opinion but maybe coz we where in bangkok first we are comparing to there department stores

we spent a day at the elephant rehab centre i wont say to much about that as everyone knows about that as many post haev been made about it but one of the best days of our travel

Phuket is a great place just to relax by pools and get pampered at spas , i would recomend if you want to do alot of shopping include a few days in bangkok as you will be saving alot of money and find alot more things

Hi Jasmine

Glad to hear you had a great time in Phuket. We are staying in the Diamond Cliff for 10 nights at the begining of Nov 06. We won%26#39;t be stopping in Bangkok so will have to do some shopping in Phuket. We will try and get to the rehab centre and a trip out on a boat. Did you use the Hotel spa or did you find a good one at another location. How was the food in the Hotel and what were the prices like?.

Glad you enjoyed your trip but I have to comment that you never ate out in Patong because of the smell and the sleazy guys.......you missed out on enjoying some great restaurants. I hope other people are not put off by your statement.......I appreciate that the Diamond Cliff is a good hotel, but if you only felt safe in the hotel that is a great shame...........people shouldn%26#39;t be afraid to venture outside of the hotels, otherwise you could be anywhere in the world.

I just feel you could have experienced a whole lot more by spending more time actually in Patong........just my opinion tho!

Glad you enjoyed your holiday Jasmine, but I also agree with Bunk, you have missed out on so much by only eating in your hotel. There are some fantastic restaurants and great shopping to be had in Patong Beach and Phuket, not to mention all the interesting places to see and things to do.

But then I suppose for a lot of people a holiday is just that, relaxing around the pool and getting pampered, so good on you for doing what you wanted.

Thanks for your report. A pity you felt intimidated. I have travelled a lot and I took my husband to Phuket a few years ago. The first few days we were hassled by people trying to sell us stuff and my husband was polite and kept being hassled. In the end I said just say no thanks and ignore them. He soon got used to that and he had no problems after that. I learnt about that when I stayed at Kuta many years ago. Thanks for the shopping tips.

thanks for all your reply i think its becasue im a 20 year old blonde i got harrased more so it was more that reason i didnt venture out i was ok about the talior suits ect but when they start wwanting to buy u and tell ur mother u haev nice boobs it really puts u off goin back

the spa was great and the food at the hotel was very cheap and alot of choices we got 50% off the spa treatments ask for voucher at reception it was well worth it !!!

Actually, I wanna know more about the ele rehab cen. in your opinion.

Favtrav, Its a commercial elephant trekking place in Phuket, a very good one, its called Kok Chang Safari and they have a couple of resident gibbons there as well.
