Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort

Hi, I desperately need some advice regarding Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort. Is it as tired outdated as many people have reported?

Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort

No, of course it isn%26#39;t!

It is stylish Thai Resort style, just not trendy chrome and glass.

It depends how old you are, how impressionable and how much you want to get the Special Rates of 5* boutique openings.

If you are a mature (brain, not necessarily age), frequent flyer, familiar with credit cards and require comfortable surroundings, excellent service, and all in beautiful surroundings then you will be well pleased indeed.

Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort

We stayed there 2 years ago and thought it was great, the pricate beach was the best for us, I agree with the previous poster, it is a good place, about 5 min drive out of Patong and that is a good thing

hope it%26#39;s nice

we will be there on 16th april for 14 nights

did anyone use the kids club.

and i don%26#39;t suppose anyone knows the hotels correct e-mail address, i%26#39;ve tried loads of different ones ,but all come back to me undelivered

thanks everyone

No we didn%26#39;t use the kids club, but we did see it full of happy children,

We did try archery, safe to say I am no robin Hood,

The best thing about this place is the private beach

A couple of tips we found ( we where in Phuket for 20 nights) 10 here and 10 in a pool access room at the Merlin Beach Resort ( which I liked the pool access but other then that didn%26#39;t like the hotel at all )

We went in later Aug - Sept - The Le Meridien rented dvd players at I think 300 baht a night, whihc was a bit expensive, we got Mr Mor to drive us to Tesco and I bought a dvd player for I think it was 2000 baht and took it with us to each hotel, this allowed us to watch some of the movies we had bought in Patong.

Also we your staying in Le Meridien, as you turn into the compound you will see several shops befroe you get to the main gate, one is like a family run 7 -11, buy your drinks and stuff there for your mini bar, also it is there you take your washing, I can%26#39;t remember what it costs but you drop off your washing early in the morning and it is cleaned and folded wrapped in plastic later that night, the day before we left Phuket we got just about everything we took with us washed, it was so nice returning to Aus with just about everything clean.

Also as you walk out of the gates of the Le Meridien, you will see a few ';taxis'; they will try to obatin your services, they are always there so the first time you use them really sets the price for future trips with them - We always seemed to be able to split the taxi cost with other couples who we met in the lobby - from memory it was about 150 baht to the Le Meridien to and from Patong, but I recommend hiring a driver.

We are not staying at the Le Meridien this time, goign to give the Daungjitt and the Diamond cliff resort.

But the Le Meridien is a great choice, and we would return, the only negative things I would say about it is the rooms where in need of a little make over

thanks pennywise4

great info.

what room type did you stay in .

i think we are in pool veiw.

Hi,

No don%26#39;t listen to them, its great there - went there a couple of months ago and loved it. We had a lovely big room with flat screen TV and all mod cons you need. I didn%26#39;t think it was tired and outdated at all, we%26#39;re both young people and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere.

I think it was a deluxe pool view room as well - it was on the 3rd floor.

You will have a great time, I would of stayed there this time except my partner wasn%26#39;t all that keen in going to Phuket again, ( as we just came back from 3 months in Europe and she would like to go back to Italy ). But she finally came around and just wanted to stay in a place we hadn%26#39;t been yet.

I stayed a couple of times in a one bed suite. The room was dated but I spend 50+ nights a year in 5 star hotels found it quite homely.

The complex itself is massive. The restaurants and common areas remind me of big US conference/resort hotels. I have to admit it was generally very professionally run and I liked it.

There are too many pretentious ';boutique'; hotels popping up like a rash in Phuket that seem to be run/owned by people that know little about running a hotel and care even less.

I%26#39;d give the Meridien a thumbs up if you want a well run place on a reasonable beach with good sports facilities and adequate dining. Personally I%26#39;d head outside for intimate dining. But the hotel does seem to attract a ';bucket and spade'; crowd who dine enthusiastically in the various ';F and B outlets';.

If I want to be a bit unkind it is a hotel frequented by people who are easily pleased and I suspect are on a first trip to Thailand. Nevertheless the place delivers and if you%26#39;re justifiably not satisfied its a Starwood property - kick up a fuss and the hotel management (western), will, I suspect deal effectively with your complaint - unlike 99% of thai run ';boutique'; hotels in my experience where you%26#39;re just another awkward and expendable farang ';who doesn%26#39;t understand thai culture'; when you demand value for money and what you%26#39;ve actually paid for!

We%26#39;ve stayed here twice (2004 %26amp; 2006) with our two children and absolutely LOVED it! Both times we stayed in a pool view room - the second time the room had been updated to wooden floor, white bed linen and cream wall paint, but the bathroom remained the same.

Our kids loved the kids club on both occasions - although there weren%26#39;t that many kids attending some days. They do great arts and crafts, swim every day and play a different sport each day. The ladies are wonderful caregivers.

There is always something to do activity wise for adults ie: water aerobics, mini putt, golf driving range, squash, tennis (a bit much in the heat!), fruit carving demonstrations etc etc. And the POOLS - wow!

We didn%26#39;t eat much in the hotel as it was expensive in comparision to local eateries. We usually spent the day at the hotel and then took a tuk tuk into Patong or one of the other beaches for dinner.

Enjoy.
