Karon vs Kata/Noi

I am 28years of age and going to phuket for the first time w/ girlfriend. Not sure karon, kata or kata noi. Looking for nice hotel/beach but not too far away from some nightlife/bars (love to people watch). Any suggestions would be great.

I have just come back from staying at the Katathani which is on Kata noi. My advice would be to stay either in Kata or Karon as they have more of a nightlife and bars. Kata noi is really quite as the Katathani is the only hotel there and you will need to take a taxi to access anywhere else. The Kata beach looks like a lovely hotel...we had a wonder inside it.

We stay at Kata Beach resort every time we are in Phuket.Rooms are great,right on the beach,great long beach to walk along,theme nights in the resort are good value for money,plent of good eating places around on the streets,easy to get tuk tuk or taxi to patong beach,or even bus if you want slow ride.

Thanks for the help. Has anyone been to surin as opposed to karon/kata??? Ist there a bar/restaurant scene just to grab a few drinks before heading to patong for a night out.

We stayed in Karon, this is bang in between Patong (the busy part, where all the action happens) and Kata (which is quieter). Both are a 15 mins tuk-tuk ride away, either way.
