daily costs on samui?

Hi, I am planning a trip to Samui for September, but am a bit unsure what I will need as far as spending money goes. I have already organised accommodation and was planning on around 4000 bht for general spending per day for two of us. We dont need to eat at top class restaurants or anything. But would like to hire a jeep for a couple of days to see the island and maybe the odd bit of shopping! How does that sound, is that reasonable?

Cheers!

Dear TG

4000 Bht per day will be heaps. It will ony cost you 1000 Bht p/day to hire a suzuki jeep.

cheers

Howzat

daily costs on samui?

That will be plenty we allowed about 3-4000bht a day. Some days we didn%26#39;t spend that and some days when we booked up trips we spent more. And trust me we didn%26#39;t hold back on spending we ate out every day and drank every night and took a few bits home.I found if you eat thai food it is as cheap as chips but if you eat western food then you pay alot more.So one night we spent alot on a meal the next we had Thai so it just evens it%26#39;s self off.We drove around the island it is a must as you see alot more unsploit beaches. We done the elephant treaking that was an experience. Also the tiger show.not too sure how I felt about that.As the one they let you have your photos with looked so sedated.I know I wouldn%26#39;t of gone in there but each to your own. They have a good aquarium there though.Just dont put too much fuel in as you can drive round the island in 3 hours. If you like snokkeling ka toa was fantastic but dont waste your money on the coral island one as that was rubbish.

We were in Lamai from the 17th - 26th March 40 degree%26#39;s and more everyday

We rented a Jeep 800Bht inc insurance as the last post says 3hrs is plenty for the whole island.

4000Bht is plenty as the last post said if you eat Thai it will cost you nothing as soon as you go Western its nearly 3/4 times more.

Shopping in Samui is approx 25% more than Bangkok and for us its was even cheaper in Kanchanaburi.Tours are approx 1500Bht

If you do a tour please note ie Jeep Safari they cram a lot of nothing into the day with over a hundred people being dragged to each sight.

You cant get near to the tiny waterfall,Elephant %26amp; Crocodile show is just that, lunch is usually after 2pm and is at a beautiful location but again over 100 people all being given 1 hot dish with rice .You bounce about along Jungle roads for hours which is pretty entertaining and the guide for some reason continuously scream at each other.
