dilemma on honeymoon accommodation!

So in my ever continuing search for the perfect honeymoon hotel, i have narrowed it down to ....

1. Amari Vogue - ocean villa(plung pool)

2. Layana (koh kanta) - ocean villa

in your opinion what has the better facilities, and more importantly the better beach?

I was also considering the Tubkaak resort, their laurel suite, has anybody stayed in that room? is it luxurious?

i%26#39;ve decided to give the new anyavee resort on tubkaak beach a miss, as nice as there plunge pool villas look great on the website, i%26#39;ve heard the resort will be 3 star.

thanks

dilemma on honeymoon accommodation!

I%26#39;ve recently stayed at the Amari Vogue and it%26#39;s a fabulous hotel, hard to believe that it%26#39;s only been open since November. It%26#39;s very luxurious, no expense spared, great food and service. There is a bit of bling about the place... fairy lights round all the trees on an evening and entertainment. Only thing i would say is reconsider your room. We had the two ocean front villas with jacuzzi. There%26#39;s a big bedroom, huge bathroom and nice lounge, all very luxurious. However, the large jacuzzi is in a small garden at the back, surrounded by very tall plants and a fence. I defy anyone to see the sea from either of these ';villas';. The pool villas are better in as much as thre is room for a couple of loungers at the front so you can get a decent view. But they are sort of cramped around the main swimmimg pool... if you%26#39;re imagining a nice villa, pool at the front, right on the beach I%26#39;m afraid you%26#39;ll be disappointed, as we were. I would certainly go again, but the best rooms for views and privacy are the honeymoon suites. We would definitely stay at the Amari again, but we%26#39;d request the top honeymoon suite on the left hand side block, looking from the beach. The top ones look fantastic, with great views... and that view should not be missed.

We%26#39;re currently at the Tubkaak, our third time here. We have the Tubkaak suite, so the Laurel suite is next to us. Needless to say we love the Tubkaak, but it%26#39;s a very simple hotel. It%26#39;s all about total peace and tranquility... and simplicity... The Laurel suite is really a villa, sat in a garden with the beach a few steps away. There%26#39;s a bedroom on one side and a lounge on the other. There%26#39;s a deck at the front where you can lounge around. The main pool area is lovely, and normally very quiet as the majority of people prefer to sit on bean bags on the beach. Maybe consider combining the two? We had three nights at the Amari and are at the Tubkaak for seven..

Prior to that we had a week at the Pimalai, Ko Lanta.. have you considered there? The setting is breathtaking. All the pool villas are on the side of a huge hill... and they are beautiful... Large bedroom with four poster bed, huge bathroom with large tub to take in the view... separate lounge with kitchen and further bathroom. In between is the infinity pool which drops off to the forest, with the bay and sea beyond. there%26#39;s a large sala to lounge around and an area with sunbeds and a covered area for eating. Perfection!

Thanks for your reply 08Kate02, one of my biggest issues was the fact that i dont quite know what the pool villas actually look like at the amari, the photos do not really give any adequate views of the %26#39;plunge pool%26#39;. Was the tubkaak suite worth the money????? the pimalai looks great, the pool villas are divine...but it seems on here anyway that the layana is in a better location and their service is better?

many thanks

Hi Eascoa,

I suppose it depends on what your priorities are... and if it%26#39;s a nice villa right on the beach then it%26#39;s Anyavee! I%26#39;ve just had a look around.. they are just finishing the villas and the frontage. It all looks very good... large main pool, lovely restaurant and bar area. There%26#39;s a one bedroom villa with private pool and it looks superb. there%26#39;s two two bedroom villas with pools too... They should be finishing them soon and there%26#39;s soft opening offers, the two beroom villas will be 30K baht and that is good value. I guess the one bedroom will be about 20K. The one bed is best as it%26#39;s the most private, it really does look fabulous. I can%26#39;t believe it will be 3 star... it%26#39;s part of Best Western group, and from what I%26#39;ve seen it%26#39;s all 5 star... beautiful bar area with lovely tables and seats... had a nosey inside one of the villas and it%26#39;s beautiful, very contemporary, light and airy. They are proper pools too, not plunge pools. I know it%26#39;s a bit of a gamble with no reviews but i would be happy to go for it. After all you only need to turn left down the beach and in one minute you%26#39;re at the Amari and two minutes the other way you%26#39;re at the Tubkaak.. so no worries about restaurants! We%26#39;ve been alternating between them and Ao Nang...

Sorry about this... decisions decisions!

one more q, whats the beach like infront of the anyavee??

It is the same beach that the Tubkaak and Amari are on. One of the nicest we saw in the area with the most fantastic views.
