Sofitel Silom Bangkok

Anyone stayed in this hotel - Sofitel Silom Bangkok? Ok for families? Location, cleanliness etc ok?

Sofitel Silom Bangkok

This is a very nice 4/5 star hotel, of high Sofitel standard. It is favoured by French Tourists. All the food and beverage outlets are First Class and prices reflect that.

Cleanliness is also immaculate standard, and the decor modern.

There is a tour desk for booking sightseeing, and it is 10 minutes walk to the nearest BTS stop, and within walking distance of Patpong Markets and Silom Village shopping/restaurant/cultural area.

Thanks Yonny. Sounds good.

my sister have stayed at this hotel for 2 times with kids she highly recommand this hotel for families with kids. They have stayed at the club level and take the advantage of free access of the lounge and internet for free !!! All rooms with wooden flooring you can imagine how clean the foor will be. There is a spa which is okey...but there are many spas around bangkok even in the shoppinf mall. They use the skytrain to move around. So good luck

Gotta agree that the Sofitel Silom has a lot going for it! spacious, clean, + comfy rooms and close to good shopping + skytrain + bars + the wonderful Lumpini Park.

I stayed at the Sofitel in January and throughly enjoyed my stay, especially at club level, but I disagree about it being a good place for children, I did not see any when I stayed (I was there for 12 nights), and the pool was tiny, with only 6-8 sun loungers. Perfect for couples, but not for children.

Thanks for everyone%26#39;s thoughts.

As far as my children are concerned they are actually teenagers so don%26#39;t need anything too specific for them. The small pool will be sufficient.

Just wanting accommodation that is comfortable, clean, convenient to transport etc and not catering for the sleazy bar trade/workers.

DesertJewel, what is Club level?

Thanks again. (This is certainly a useful site to get the inside info.)

I stayed in this hotel countless times during my business trips.

I will say that this hotel is more for business travelers although there are many tourists. Rooms are spacious. I had once stayed in a twin room with 2 King size beds!! Services are ok. They have quite a number of connected rooms. But, if you are looking for big pools and gyms, grand lobby, bars, it is out of your choice.

Location is not as convenient as other big names, like Grand Hyatt and InterContinental. The hotel is in the old business district. SkyTrain station is within 10-minute walk but the street leading to the station is quite quiet and dark at night although it is still safe.

If your budget permits, go to the Chinese restaurant at the top floor for lunch. The restaurant is headed by a chef from Hong Kong. Dishes are very good and the view is spectacular.
