1 Day, 2 Nights - what hotel?

My wife and I are going to Nepal in October and were able to squeeze in an extra day in Bangkok between flights. Our plane lands at 11 pm one night and we fly out 2 days later in the morning. So we have one full day of sightseeing in Bangkok.

Any Hotel recommendations? It needs to be one we can get to and check into in the middle of the night and be closest to all the things you would see if you only had one day in Bangkok.

Everyone loves the Peninsula but none of the major websites show availability during our 2 nights there.

I have enough Hilton points to do a free stay at the Hilton or the Conrad but since its only one day if neither of those are going to be great for a day of sightseeing we%26#39;ll go elsewhere. Also in that line of thinking buffet breakfast in the hotel can be a big time saver as well.

Thanks in advance for your help! 200 USD or less a night would be preferred.

The Conrad is in a good loacation close to skytrain and many shopping areas. They have 24 hour reception and good food.

Make sure you see the Grand Palace - take the skytrain to Saphan Taksin, go down to the pier underneath the station (Tha Sathorn) and catch the public Chao Phrya Express Boat to Tha Chang pier, the Grand Palace is right there. Also, take the skytrain to National Stadium and follow the signs to the Jim Thompson House, a beautiful museum in a traditional Thai house next to a canal.
