Travel Agent to get best fare LAX to BKK?

Hello,

I am trying to fly to Bangkok from any city in the US (whatever is cheapest, probably LAX), and have found a fare for China Airlines connecting in Taipei for $1,200, and the non-stop flight on Thair Airways for around $1,600.

Can I get a better fare going through a travel agent? Can anyone recommend a good one?

Thanks!

Northwest Airlines.

LAX to BKK for May 5 to May 20 is $876.

Check the websites for NW and UA and see what the price is.

Remember to sometimes Friday, weekend and holiday departures are more expensive than other days of the week.

Alway check the price a few days before your desired departure and a few days after to check if the prices drop any.

If you have an elite frequent flier card (Silver or Gold) use the airline you can use that card on and take advantage of the bonus miles and extra perks.

Good luck.

Usually China Airlines (www.china-airlines.com) is cheaper than NWA. I like the late departure CI has and you arrive in Bangkok during the day. NWA and UA you arrive around midnight!

Ooooo, looks like I left out the fact that i am going in August. Sorry! So, I%26#39;ve already found the cheapest deals on the web. My question is:

Your prices aren%26#39;t bad, but it never hurts to compare. I have used Jeff at Siam Tours (an american expat in Bangkok) a few times and gotten great pricing on air and hotels. Tell him Lori from the PLF sent ya.

Try www.kayak.com for some simple comparisons. Then go to a travel agent and say that you are considering a trip to BKK. See what offers they get. If their price is better, buy. If not, say thank you and book online yourself. :)

A travel agent / consolidator which works with one market and high volume, may have better rates. But the average travel agent will have access to the same rates you find on the web.

Not sure which web search you used, but on Orbitz in August there are $1300 fares from Cincinnati (assuming you are in Kentucky) to BKK. One trick I have found with Orbitz is to search normally, then search again selecting a single alliance (Star Alliance, Sky Team, One World) ... for some unknown reason this quite often produces much lower fares than the first regular search.
