How expensive is electronic in Thailand (in perspective to AUS)

ok, how expensive are laptops in Bankgok? I might wanna buy a brand laptop and hovering between purchasing it in Sydney (AUS) and Bankgok. I know prices vary by quality and atributes. Im looking at 2GHz, 1-2G memory, 250 HDD.

One more question. Can i claim international warranty on products purchased in Thailand, specificaly on electronics.

Some friends in Singapore advised, one cannot do (unless you upgrade to that for extra charge) - that is why prices are lower there. How is that in Thailand. Has anybody bought electronic in Thailand?

cheers

I found cameras and laptops in Bangkok to be dearer than Aus. Plus the warranties are not guaranteed always.

In addition - you will need to pay the GST upon your return to Aus so any bargain you thought you got - doesnt turn out to be that when you get home.

Just as easy to buy the lap top in Aus and claim the Tourist Refund Scheme at the airport as you leave Aus. You just need to have the item, the reciept and your bank details or your credit card ready. They deposit the refund straight into your card for you. The whole process took about 5 minutes.

Cannot tell you how it compares to Aussie but some electronics are a similar price to Singapore, but in Thailand some goods have a global warranty and some only a local one, so you need to check that. Selection and latest goods are better in HK than Thailand.
