Regent Cha-Am

We are looking at an offer to stay at the Regent Cha-Am in mid September on an A/I basis. We see it has a number of restaurants but there is no mention of where the A/I meals can be taken. Can anybody who has taken this option please let us know which restaurants qualify for this option and if we are able to use any others within the hotel at (perhaps) a discount. We don%26#39;t usually go A/I but the offer looks good. Also, is the hotel likely to be busy with children in mid Sept?

Thank you.

Regent Cha-Am

All inclusive that includes meals ( which I guess this offer is about ) are not popular at all in Thailand, the main reason is that eating out is so so cheap that it is hard for hotels to compete.

Personaly I would not want to stay around the hotel for meals anyway as you most certainly would want to head into Hua Hin most evenings for the night markets, shopping etc, and there is a huge number of excellent restaurants. Thai, Japanese, Italian, French and others, and a wide range of styles and price ranges.

How much extra are they wanting and what meals would it include?

Regent Cha-Am

Hello Monica4 and thank you for your reply. The A/I deal we have been looking at is not that much more expensive than equivalent B%26amp;B offers at The Regent available in the UK. You are so right in that it is usually much better to eat locally in most cases and I%26#39;m sure this is the case here. In fact, it%26#39;s one of the highlights of the day to sit down and experience different foods and restaurants. We would rarely consider A/I but this seemed so good because you get your drinks as well, which I beleive are fairly expensive to buy in The Regent.

I%26#39;m now having second thoughts about The Regent (although it still looks a good deal) - I%26#39;m worried we might have unruly children running around and that%26#39;s not worth any price. I%26#39;m swaying towards (say) the JW Marriott in Phuket, or similar. And, eating out! Yum.

Monica gives good advise as usual. Rather than thinking about your meals, you might want to consider the weather conditions as Phuket has horrible weather(in Sept...usually) and ko Samui has good weather.Cha am/Hua Hin area also can be very wet.

Dear Chris and Lynne

I agree totally with advise from others. Eating out is so cheap and food is very fresh. There is also a couple of beach shacks near by which do some fabulous food and drink and great to sit in on accasions in the evening. Toes in the sand, sun going down or listening to the waves on the beach whilst you have a few drinks and eat is very relaxing and enjoyable.

I also agree that September could be quiet wet, if you go a little later we were in Hau Hin in mid October last year and we only had a couple of wet evenings; just a downpour and then clear after an hour or so. Hau Hin hotel Chom View was not a great location so we have booked to take friends to the Regent/Holiday Inn on the 18th April this month as we know this location and have stayed there a while ago, but it is superb beach wise and it is only 150 Baht in a Baht Taxi to Hau Hin.

This is our 16 trip to Thailand of which we have stayed at various locations. What we can recommend is a couple of very good agents who offer excellent deals with Direct flights. Travelbag and Travelmood also do some brilliant offers.

What we would also recommend is book at taxi before you fly out to pick you up at Bangkok and take you Direct. It will save you a lot of money on the booking and it is far quicker. We have used a very good company whose vehicles are good and very comfortable. I can let you have the details if you would like them.

If you would like a more up to date view of the area I will update when we get back in May.

I hope this has been of help to you and you have a fabulous trip.

All the best

Christine
